Prudence has been immersed in a world of story since the get go. Growing up in rural Victoria, Australia, she formed a strong connection with the natural world and its creatures. She spent her childhood lost in day dreams and wandering across boundaries into neighbouring farms. Getting purposefully lost.
After completing High School school, disillusioned, Prudence fled to London where she studied Fashion at Central St Martins over the Summer and discovered Europe for the first time. Europe made its way under her skin and she has travelled between Australia and the Northern hemisphere ever since, living and working in London with time spent in Continental Europe. Not limited to Europe, her travels have encompassed parts of Asia - Hong Kong, Japan, India and Nepal.
Prudence has completed a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University in Melbourne - majoring in English and Politics. She simultaneously studied Fine Art photography at Monash University where she gained a grounding in the tradition both analogue and digital.
The need to make art whether written or visual has been underpinned by an urge to make sense of the world both internal and external.
Images and words have always co-existed and created a complimentary practice. Prudence is interested in the ties that bind and the relationships that can be explored between the photographer and the subject - the writer and the reader- with the awareness that through capturing another, she leaves her own indelible imprint.
